Ah the 80s, the decade when the FDA still did not consider children's breakfast cereals an area of interest, allowing for some of the most outlandish and extreme breakfast cereals to have ever hit the shelves. Which is a far cry from the first ever cereal to have hit the shelves in the late 1800s, which was called Granula, and was made of graham flour, which is also why we became accustomed to putting milk in our cereal because it was necessary to soften the hard mass of flour.

But today we are celebrating the most colorful and creative generation of breakfast cereals, the ones that stuck to your teeth, contained unreasonable amounts of sugar, and were the dream of every child across the world. So strap in (like seriously, the sugar may send you flying) and get ready to stuff your face full of these nineteen spoonfuls of 80s breakfast cereals.

  • Oh lawdy, just looking at this, you can already sense the copious amounts of sugar and artificial colorings used in this legendary cereal. Also, somewhat ironic to see that kids were given a free kite to entice them to ask their parents to buy a breakfast cereal that would make the kids themselves high as kites on sugar.
